Yeaaa! We passed our final inspection on Friday! We actually have been living in the house for a couple of weeks, as we couldn't stand it any more. But now we have started moving the furniture in, stacking boxes and trying to remember where we put something. It has been an entire year, if you can believe it! We are very thankful to be thru with the house at last. Of course there are a few little "projects" to do around the place, but we can actually start to settle in.
David and I have tried to rest today after moving in more furniture yesturday, including the couch and desk and beds. We have the TV Armoire in, after I gave it a crackle finish, to update it. I have been trying to get a bookshelf painted as well. Too many things to do and not enough time!
We will try to have an open house when we get everything put away and done. Hope to see you all there!

Happy Fathers Day! We've had our first family get-together in our new house! The kids all managed to get here from all their differant directions. We really loved seeing them! Naomi is doing wonderful, with virtually no morning sickness. Jeremiah is headed off to Yosemite for the summer, so we won't see him untill Fall or Thanksgiving maybe. Rachael is glad to have the term over and will go one more year for a degree in nutrition. David and I are just hanging on, all we can think about is getting the house done. As you can see the maple island top is in, now David gets to cut a big hole in it for the cooktop. Maybe we can use the cut out for a chopping block. So we are waiting on the granite counter installer, the excavator, the plumber to finish and the concrete to be poured for the driveways. Also gutters and tubelights and porch steps, and a number of little things. When we prayed for patience, we didn't think the Lord would give us such an opportunity to develope it!

I can't believe how wonderful it is to turn a light swich and get instant illumination! The electrician has been out and has hooked up the oven, as well as oll the lights and outlets. We have to wait on the counter guy before we get the cooktop in but the kitchen is coming together! I can stand there and imagine myself cooking away. I'm getting very excited! Next week we hope to get counters and have the trim and inside doors going in. David has hauled away 2 truckloads of cardboard from all the packaging!
It won't be long and we can have all of you over for an open house!

Lots going on this week! I was off all week, and was the "gofor" for David and Curley while they put in the floor. We also have had the finish carpenter here putting in the kitchen cabinets. His name is Samuel and he is doing a great job- comes at 7:00 and seldom goes home untill 6:00. Today the "finish package" came- the inside doors, the trim and closet shelves and rods, etc. The pictures are of the guy delivering the finish package. It was too wide to fit thru the garage door- the door is 16 ft and the trim was 18 ft wide! So David and Curley had to "work it" to get it in. Mabel spent all week laying the felt and foam for under the flooring, and really wished for Rachael to help her , as they had made such a good team when she was down the last weekend. Today I took Mabel and walked her feet off at Home Depot, and got all the lights and the supplies to tile the bathroom floor, etc. It took us 4 hours. She was lucky to get a potty break and lunch! Also the tub was delivered , but it was the wrong one, so a flurry of calls and high blood pressure, and the plumber called and smoothed my feathers down, and promised to get the right order out soon. Hopefully this month. I also looked at granite countertops. There is a wholesale importer who has great prices on granite counters she gets from China. If I can find an installer to put it in this month, I am going with granite. Well, my 1 week vacation is almost over and we are worn to a frazzle- so it must be time to go back to work. But first the tile floors!

Color and lots of it!Except for the living room which is a light beige. We are so greatful to have Mabel and Curley helping us with the floors. They are able to be here for a few days. I can't wait to get the floor all laid, it is so pretty, and really contrasts with the walls. Last year on Memorial Day we camped here under the big fir trees and made a campfire! There was only tall grass and blackberry bushes at that point. I can't believe how much has changed since then- here we have a house almost done and a big shop. What will the next year bring?

At long last my kitchen cabinets are here! I am so excited and can hardly wait to get them set up in the house. It was quite a sight to see the semi truck get turned around and back up our little road. They did a great job, and stopped the truck at the bend in our lane, then dolly'd the boxes of cabinet parts over to the house garage. We had to put them in the house garage as there is no more room in David's shop. I have it filled full of furniture and boxes of who knows what.
Before we can get the cabinets in, the walls need to be finished with the plastering, and then we get to paint! I have lovely colors of lime green(!), and sunny yellow, and moss green and sky blue, and antique white all picked out. You will have to come and see us to see which room I paint lime green!

I wasn't sure I was going to like the porch with the rail on it, but it is nice when sitting there looking out. The pictures are of the side by the driveway with the old fir, and then the front of the house, then the view from our bedroom. David is busy working away cutting down the endless blackberries. He has put in a french drain around the shop and is geting ready to put one in around the house now.

We so enjoyed seeing Nathan and Naomi this week! David has been home with a cold, but has watched the sheetrock begin. Meanwhile I think I had better plant my hanging baskets to hang on the porch!

HAPPY EASTER!

We have insulation! And the porch only lacks the railiing. Then sheetrock will go up this next week. Today I went to a tile class and bought tile to put down in the bathrooms, so hope I took good notes!

Happy Easter everyone!
I love the spring and promise of new life every where. The fields are full of new calves and lambs and flowering trees. It is so wonderful to remember what Jesus did for us and to celebrate His sacrifice and gift of new life to us.
We are waiting for the electrical inspection, but were so excited to have the crew out on Saturday to start the wrap-a-round porch. I can't wait for it to be done, and am dreaming of iced tea on the porch in the summer! Apparently wraparound porches or decks are made of gold, accounting for the cost, which was a surprise to David and I. But we are focusing on the pleasure we will get from the porch, there is no holding back now! We are on a run away train and trying to hold on.
David has had quite a trial in getting all the trenches dug for the electrical lines from the transformer to the house, and from the house to the shop and from the house to the well. Also for the water line from the well to the house. So we have lots of dirt everywhere!
I had to start a little garden on the trailer porch as you can see. I am having fun visulizing the hanging baskets on the porch, as well.
